Today on the bench

Ofc more french polishing today. Half the day doing french polishing. Then i finished buffing the electric so that I can see any flaws to be fixed in the finish. This finish was too thin again. So I will be layering on 30 layers. This wipe on poly and solid color finish is a first for me. There have been plenty of challanges.

Next thing today I was finishing up on a fairy on a moon inlay I was making in fusion 360.

I am getting a small cnc/lazer machine for xmas. And I will use it for things like inlay, peghead carving and bridge carving. I will be using the laser part for putting logos inside on the heel and tail block. I wanted a branding iron before, but now I can see many more things I can do with this laser.

I wanted to take this photo:

And create an inlay in its likeness. I will use gold mother of pearl for the sky and gradient the color towards the sun. I will use mother of pearl for the sun and i will leave the silhouette as the uncarved part of the peghead. This will be for an ukulele.
