Today I filed the frets flush with the side of the fretboard. I started by using a tool I made and used for years, but then decided to use my new nicholson mill file. It was better than my tool. Ofc I used a cheap harbor freight file in my tool and it does work descent. But the nicholson was filing the edges like butter. Later I will use the 35 degree side of my tool to file a 35 degree angle into the edge of the frets:
